The Packet8 Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) Freedom Unlimited plan provides unlimited local and long distance calling anywhere in the United States, U.S. territories, Canada and various European countries like France, Italy, Ireland, United Kingdom and more, and free In-Network (calls between Packet8 users) calls for $24.99 a month.
Packet8 charges a $29.99 activation fee. If you cancel your service within one year of signing up you will be charged a $59.00 disconnect fee. This fee is not charged if you cancel during your first 30 days.
Packet8 calling features include Voicemail, Caller ID, 3-way Calling, Call Waiting, Call Forwarding, Call Return, Keep Existing Number, Voicemail to Email, Online Account Management and Network Unavailable Forwarding. Packet8 does have a free Softphone.
Other Packet8 plans include a Global plan at $29.99 a month, a limited 500 minutes a month plan for $14.99 and an annual pre-pay option for unlimited U.S. and Canada.
Packet8 does include a searchable knowledgebase for common questions, online documentation like installation guides and live chat. However, we found the live chat was inconsistently available and all of the emails we sent were responded to, but unanswered.
